"These piano practice books will last for one year with plenty of space to write in and children love to see that they have achieved their goals. They are excellent value and the design of these books is superb. Very different from anything else. I am looking forward to seeing the teenager and adult books and I will be buying more." - Ceinwen Bran @ Piano4Solihull
"The Piano Goals Practice Notebooks arrived very promptly just before half term and I used them with 4 students, They loved the colourful design. There is a A5 page for each lesson where the practice goals can be documented and then reviewed in the following week and rewarded with a smiley face or maybe next time, (Easy for the teacher to take a snapshot for records too!) Great to have a repertoire list at the back which shows progression and achievement." - Julie Oldfield, piano teacher
After years of trying to get my students to actually open up their practice notebooks in between lessons, and not rely on their (somewhat selective) memories for what they needed to practice during the week, I sat down and had a thought.
What if I eliminated the word "practice" from my studio? That word seemed to switch children off and make parents fret. What if I treated students' areas to practice as small weekly goals to achieve instead? And what if it was stated outright at the front of the book that these little goals would help the student achieve their biggest, loftiest goal?
I have a background in graphic design, so I got to work designing something that would appeal to children age 5-12. Once it was finished and the first run had been printed, I sent them to a bunch of 15 lovely piano teachers around the UK, whose feedback was overwhelmingly positive (phew!!) and now here they are available as a PDF download.
Thanks so much for reading. If you have any questions or comments please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will get back to you as soon as I can!
